Dr. Abyan Bashir
Dr. Abyan Bashir is the founder of Let’s Talk Healing, a mental health and ABA services agency committed to culturally responsive care for immigrant and BIPOC communities. She earned her doctorate in psychology in 2022, with a focus on trauma, neurology, complex trauma, and development, and brings over a decade of clinical and community-based experience to her work.
Driven by a passion for equity in mental health, Dr. Bashir launched Let’s Talk Therapy, a Snapchat channel designed to reduce stigma and increase access to information for underserved communities. Her doctoral research explored mental health service use among 1.5 generation Somali-Americans in Minnesota, deepening her understanding of systemic barriers to care.
Through her clinical practice, Dr. Bashir saw firsthand the need for services that reflect the cultural realities of the populations they serve. This inspired her to create Let’s Talk Healing, which offers mental health support for adults and ABA services for children with developmental disabilities.
Rooted in her experience growing up in a large Somali family, Dr. Bashir’s work reflects a deep commitment to social justice, healing generational trauma, and building trust in mental health systems.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Bashir finds joy and renewal in spending time with family and friends, hiking, staying active, and spending time in nature.
